Your Ministry's Foundational Scripture

According to Webster's Dictionary the definition of foundation is something that gives a support base to a structure and is built to last. A foundation lays the groundwork for what is to come. Therefore, it is important that a foundational scripture is established, because it will set the entire structure, groundwork and direction for your ministry. God gave me the foundational scripture of, (Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2) God wants their mind, soul and spirit to be transformed which will automatically take care of the outer man. This transformation will cause them to discover the greatness He has purposed for them as it relates to dance. Knowing the scripture God has assigned to your ministry will set God's plan in motion. This will assist you with developing a strong vision, mission and purpose statement. Anything that is birthed out of your ministry will should relate directly to your foundational scripture.

In your foundation, God makes his position known as the head. This takes the attention off of you or any of your members and places it on God. This will make all who come conform to the vision and not allow them to create their own. Sometimes, people come with the wrong motives. They may be seeking position, power, notoriety and more. All of these things come from their own desires and not God's. Well, keeping the foundation in the forefront stops anyone who has wrong motives from causing problems. God is a God of order and will always give a set of requirements to ensure that he is the focus so that His people will be reached. You ministry is a spiritual home for your members and without a strong foundation a home will not stand. The strength of it begins with you as well as the confidence and trust you place in God. As more and more people come, they should step into a set of patterns, rules, principles and a regimen that is firm.

Again, if you have not established your foundational scripture you will need to pray and ask God to reveal it to you. This will help you to know exactly what God wants accomplished. You will need to study it, break it down, look up words that you don't understand, and memorize it because it is the key to the life of your ministry. Have your dancers do the following to ensure that they understand the purpose of your foundational scripture:

If you don't have one, pray and ask God to reveal it to you.Once it has been revealed, have your members as well as you memorize it.Have your dancers write a one page essay on what the scripture means to them individually as well as to the ministry.Break the scripture down and research other scripture that relates to it.Write a vision statement based on this scripture and have your members memorize this as well.

Remember God always has an order to everything He establishes. God Bless!

Does your ministry have a foundational scripture? If not, you need to pray and ask God to reveal it to you. You must understand your foundation in order to know where you are going!
